The Stairs Are In!!!!

Yay!!! I am so happy! The stairs are up and now we can go up to the loft without using a ladder!!  Mom can finally go up! I'm so excited about the stairs because we are using every inch of space under them.  Most of the under space will be the pantry and the flat part under the landing will be a dog kennel!! No more kennels sitting around! The kennel sits between the kitchen and our bedroom. So there will be two ways to access it.  Love the use of space!

Concrete Floors...Ughhhhh

The floors have been a real pain in the you know what!  Each room's concrete was originally poured separately and therefore was very unlevel from room to room.  On top of that they had to cut through the concrete to lay the plumbing.  It was a very big job to get it right, but they are finally complete!  TJ and his crew had to first cover up holes with concrete and let it set and then come in with a two inch overlay to achieve the same height of floor throughout.  But before they poured the concrete TJ put foam all along the walls to allow for expansion and contraction.  They also put rebar all along the insides of the holes cut for plumbing. This is done to prevent the concrete from cracking.  So fingers and toes crossed that it won't!

We have also decided to make the final floor be stained concrete! I'm super excited about this!

New Roof

We had to put on a new roof due to all of the hail damage. We have had a significant amount of hail storms here so the damage was pretty bad.  We picked an architectural shingle in a color called Williamsburg Grey.

The Plumbing Has Been Layed

Here are pictures of the plumbing put in the floor.  I never knew exactly how they do this! Pretty cool!

The New and Improved Septic Tank Is In!

This is the not fun part of this project! I'd rather spend our money on fun stuff! :)  But it is necessary, so we removed the old septic tank and put in a new one. The old one was about 20 years old and was on what is called a 20 Ton Pit.  That is no longer approved by code so it all had to be changed.  This was the most difficult permit to get.  We had to have a survey drawn and it had to be approved by a lot of people!  Let's just say I have a new respect for builders and permits!

Original Blueprints

These are the original blueprints! We have changed a few things around from this.  Will expand on this as I get more pictures.

Cutting Concrete To Lay Plumbing

This part of the renovation has proved to be VERY difficult! But not a job to big for the amazing crew at Extreme Industries at extremeindustriesga.com !  TJ is the owner of this company and has been amazing and a wealth of knowledge for this project! He is a perfectionist and his work is impeccable.  He has poured the driveway and literally has everything to do with anything concrete.  They had to cut through the existing concrete flooring to lay the plumbing.  It took 4 blades, 3 respirator masks, and a lot of hard work to accomplish this job!

The Upstairs Framing is Complete!

They have completed the framing of the upstairs bedrooms and bathrooms and loft! Yay!! Looks so amazing!  We have changed a bit from the blueprint since a few items made more sense.
Part of Loft

Bedroom and bath. This bath was originally going to be sideways. We changed it to keep it the same as the other one on the other side of loft.

This will be a recessed bookshelf and pool stick holders

The T was added so that we could hang a light or fan from here

Best part of the project!!! A trail that leads to my mom's house!!!!!
So I saved this part until I could get a picture.  My mom lives in the white house that you can barely see in the distance!  The property backs up to hers!  I am sooooo happy that Jay and I can be right there with her! We are making a trail so that we can go back and forth quickly and easily!  Since my dad passed away,  it bothers me every second that my mom is alone.  My cousin Doug came to live with her for a while when he was working in Georgia, but had to return to Alaska.  Soon I will be comforted by the fact that she can jump in her golf cart and cruise on over!
